Bolton’s roads have been made safer by TWM Traffic Control Systems after 61 signs were installed to help reduce speed in and around the borough. Following reports from residents of speeding vehicles, Bolton council reviewed their signage which was more than 10 years old. Following a successful tender, TWM came in to solve the issue and install new signage that would help reduce speeding.

TWM installed 61 Tri-Colour LED SID signs throughout the borough. Designed by the team of experts at the traffic control specialist and by utilising modern manufacturing methods and proven radar technology, this interactive sign from TWM displays the real-time speed of oncoming vehicles in three colours.

Kevin Marshall, Company Director at TWM comments:

“We’re delighted to install our advanced signs in Bolton. With this new signage, not only have we effectively reduced speeding in Bolton but we can also monitor average speeds and relay this information to the council. At TWM, our aim is to create safer environments for road users and pedestrians and we hope that our newly installed innovative signage does exactly this in Bolton.”

Importantly the new signage records speeds which means the local council do not have to attend the site to retrieve data. Instead via TWM’s advanced technology, the new signs provide a more efficient method of gathering the data to respond to residents’ concerns. The new additions have been welcomed by residents and local councillors alike and has resulted in a decrease in speeding cars through Bolton and created a safer environment for all road users in the area.

Joe Fox, Principal Engineer at Bolton Council said:

“Reducing speed in Bolton and being able to monitor the data were two extremely important aims of installing this new signage and TWM has delivered on both fronts. We’re delighted with the work TWM has conducted and we’re pleased that Bolton has been made a safer environment for the residents and road users.”
